Entertaiment is the experience of amusement and delight. It may be playful, as in games and sports; involve learning or skill-building, such as music or dance; provide a social context for ritual or religious festival; satirize or criticize society, as in drama and comedy; or simply offer aesthetic effect. Entertainment can be enjoyed in private by an individual, as part of a meal or banquet, as part of an evening with friends, a romantic partner or strangers, or on a large scale, from performances intended for thousands or even the global audience. Familiar entertainments often inspire retelling in another medium, such as the Scheherazade story told by professional storytellers and then turned into an orchestral work, a film and an innovative video game.
